House Renovations
When Snowdrop clients are provided with permanent accommodation, usually through the local authority, it's often in need of a deep clean and a lick of paint, at the very minimum.
Snowdrop works with a team of volunteers to renovate clients' accommodation, transforming a house into a welcoming, comfortable home.
Snowdrop's clients also choose the colour of the paint, giving them ownership over the process and helping to empower them as they step into independent living.
We believe that stable and safe accommodation is a basic need. Without this, survivors can seriously struggle to move into independence. We want to help our clients create a place they can call home with pride and dignity.
“When I went there with my two children I cried from joy, I couldn’t believe my eyes that that was my house. It was all completed, all furnished, including a fully fitted kitchen. My children were so very happy. I don’t know what more to say.” - Snowdrop client
“When I first got my council housing, it was really a disaster...[Snowdrop] painted the house, they furnished two rooms for the children as well as my room. They ensured everything I needed in the kitchen was there. The house eventually was made very warm and pleasant.” - Snowdrop client
We usually carry out one Renovation per month. Our House Renovations take place across three days, between the hours of 10am-3pm. However, you don't have to attend all three days - even a few hours on one day is a big help! Our clients are usually given accommodation in Sheffield or surrounding areas (e.g. Barnsley, Doncaster etc.). No experience is necessary - just a positive attitude and the drive to make a difference!
