Chair of Trustees

Samantha Dixon

Sam has worked in the voluntary sector for nearly thirty years. She has worked for a range of causes including those related to health and social care, young people and families. Sam was previously the Chief Executive of Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust and the Co-Chair of the UK HPV-related Cancers Elimination Coalition. She is an advocate for better equity in healthcare for women and those from marginalised communities. She has recently completed her MSc in Voluntary Sector Management, and is keen to use her experience of charity sector leadership, governance , marketing and fundraising to help the Snowdrop Project support as many vulnerable people in the best way possible. When not working Sam enjoys dancing, walking, running, live music and theatre.

Trustee Board

Khurum Sethi

Khurum is a Senior Civil Servant, with a career spanning the public and private sector.  He has a background in internal audit, project delivery, service delivery, digital delivery and organisation change.  He currently focuses his energies on the spheres of organisational transformation, leadership and digital delivery.

Darren Wake

Darren Wake is a senior finance professional with 30 years' experience in commercial organisations. Darren now focuses on supporting the voluntary sector and university spin-out companies in both trustee and non-executive roles.

Jon Kenworthy

Jon is a partner at global law firm DLA Piper, specialising in mergers and acquisitions. He has previous charity board experience, having acted as a trustee of Shelter for six years and Vice-Chair of Shelter's trustee board for three years.

Janet Harwood

Before leaving employment, Jan worked in various central government departments as an internal auditor, an operational manager and an HR business partner in the Immigration Directorate within the Home Office. In her last post, she worked in the Safeguarding Directorate, responsible for developing the Modern Slavery policy and other protection policies for vulnerable people. Jan was also part of the team reviewing the processes for identifying and helping victims of human trafficking in the UK. This insight into the need to protect and support victims prompted Jan to become a trustee of the Snowdrop Project. 

She had also contributed to the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA) by listening to and recording the experiences of abuse survivors to help formulate recommendations to prevent abuse in institutional settings. Jan is also a trustee of a local charity that helps disadvantaged people into employment by providing suitable clothing for interviews, assisting with presentation and confidence building to maximise opportunities for success.   

Paula Carter

Born and raised in Sheffield, Paula is the Founder and Director of Inicio Success. Her career has spanned high-profile roles, including working with the UK Cabinet Office and government ministers, as well as leading complex, multi-million-pound programmes across the UK, Europe and India.

Paula is passionate about social impact and is committed to supporting survivors of modern slavery and exploitation. She shares Snowdrop's belief that everyone deserves safety, dignity, and the chance to rebuild their lives. Paula is dedicated to amplifying Snowdrop's mission, using her extensive professional networks to help raise awareness and broaden the charity's reach within the business and civic community.

Aliya Zahin

Aliya has a background in humanitarian law and varied experience in the field of migration. She has worked with a number of charities involved in both refugee support and advocacy for survivors of modern slavery and exploitation, and has extensive experience in refugee resettlement following work in UNHCR resettlement operations in Ethiopia, Libya and Peru. She is currently working with Caritas Social Action Network as Senior Migration Officer, supporting its member charities across England & Wales to advocate for refugees and to raise awareness about modern slavery in our communities. 

Paula Barber

Paula has built up an extensive network of connections through her career in recruitment by focusing on collaboration, transparency, and open communication. Paula's insight, integrity and commitment to building relationships that matter will be a wonderful addition to our Board of Trustees. We look forward to working with Paula to further Snowdrop's mission, vision and values.
