Snowdrop at Christmas
It’s that time of year again - the festive season is fast approaching! If you’re looking for ways you can support survivors of modern slavery and exploitation in your community this Christmas, you can find out more below.
Big Give Christmas Challenge
This Christmas, Snowdrop is aiming to raise £5000 for survivors of modern slavery and their families in just one week. These funds will help provide vital services, enable Snowdrop to expand its capacity, and give survivors and their families the tools and support they need to move forward with their lives.
To achieve this ambitious goal, Snowdrop has partnered with the Big Give, the UK’s biggest online match-funding campaign, which helps charities raise vital funds for their communities. Between 12pm on Tuesday 3rd December and 12pm on Tuesday 10th December, all donations to Snowdrop will be doubled by the Big Give, meaning your gift has double the impact.
Rachel Medina, CEO of the Snowdrop Project, said: “This year, we have seen demand for our services surge dramatically. To meet this need moving forwards, we need to expand our capacity, so that we can reach more survivors in South Yorkshire. As the year draws to a close, we hope that our community will support us through the Big Give Christmas Challenge, so that we can reach our ambitious fundraising target and continue making a positive impact in the lives of survivors across South Yorkshire.”
The Big Give said: “We’re delighted to be partnering with the Snowdrop Project to help them reach their ambitious fundraising target and support even more survivors of modern slavery and exploitation. As the UK’s biggest collaborative fundraising campaign, we’ve seen the profound impact that our Christmas Challenge can have on the communities where our charity partners work. Last year, our Christmas Challenge raised over £33 million for our charity partners, and this year we’re aiming to raise even more.”
- £30 can fund one hour of Counselling for a survivor, helping them process the psychological impacts of their experiences
- £50 can fund one session of our weekly Toddlers group, giving survivors and their children the opportunity to find friendship and community
- £500 can fund one renovation, helping transform a house into a home for a survivor of modern slavery and their family

Please note, only donations made via the Big Give’s website between 12pm on 3rd December and 12pm on 10th December will be match-funded.
You can also donate to Snowdrop outside of the Big Give week – any amount you can give will make a difference to those we support.

Light up Snowdrop’s virtual Christmas tree
We’re asking our community to help decorate Snowdrop’s virtual Christmas tree! You can add a star to our tree by donating as little as £2. You can also choose to leave a special message for those we work with, or for a loved one. We would love for our Christmas tree to act as a beacon of light and hope for survivors this festive season.

Learn to spot the signs
Modern slavery can be extremely difficult to spot. It could be happening at a home on your street, in your local nail salon or at a nearby car wash. It might be the cleaner who empties your office bin every night, or the care worker looking after your loved one at a care home.
One way you can support those living in modern slavery to rebuild their lives is by learning to spot the signs and remaining vigilant all year round.
Physical signs:
- They may look anxious, dishevelled, or malnourished.
- They may have untreated injuries.
Less obvious signs:
- Someone paying for their travel
- Someone speaking for them
- Perhaps they are picked up and dropped off from work at unusual times
- They may not be sure of their own address
