Summer at Snowdrop
It’s a busy time of year at Snowdrop HQ, and we’re here to give you the rundown on everything that’s going on!
There are plenty of ways you can support survivors of modern slavery in your local community – from buying the Pint of Sheffield, to donning your running shoes for the upcoming Sheffield 10k. Read on to find out what’s happening in the next few months!
Abbeydale Road Beer Festival
We’re kicking off August at the Abbeydale Road Beer Festival, back for its third year! Snowdrop is absolutely thrilled to be the charity partner for the Abbeydale Road Beer Festival. This means that, for every Pint of Sheffield sold at the festival – the unique beer chosen by the public and brewed by Triple Point Brewery - we’ll receive a donation of 25p!
Keep your eyes peeled for Snowdrop at the festival, too – we’ll be there raising awareness of modern slavery and how people in Sheffield can support survivors in their local community.
The festival takes place across 12 venues between Thursday 1st and Sunday 4th August, with over 100 craft beers available to sample – and best of all, the festival is free to attend. You can also grab a limited edition art print, created by local Sheffield artist Helion Art, when you successfully visit all 12 venues. Just make sure to get your festival card stamped in all 12 venues before visiting Cole’s Corner to pick up your print. See you there!
A big thank you to Pints of Sheffield and Triple Point Brewery for supporting Snowdrop – it means the world to a charity like ours.
Kilimanjaro 2024
On 1st August, a group of incredible Snowdrop supporters are taking on the challenge of a lifetime as they set off to climb Africa’s highest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro. The group will be pushing themselves to the absolute limit as they summit the mountain, all in the name of raising awareness and funds for survivors of modern slavery in South Yorkshire.
We’re so proud of everything they’ve already achieved – from training weekends in Eryri National Park, to impressive fundraising feats (including walking from Sheffield to Manchester!). We know they’re going to do amazingly well, and we can’t wait to hear all about it! We are incredibly grateful for all the hard work, commitment and support they’ve already shown to Snowdrop.
To all our Kilimanjaro climbers: we hope you have an absolutely unforgettable experience and make memories to last a lifetime. Enjoy every second!
Our 2024 Kilimanjaro group are aiming to raise £55,000 for survivors of modern slavery and exploitation, which will have a profound impact on the work Snowdrop does. They are so close to raising their target, with less than £5000 to go! To donate and support the group, please click.
Snowdrop Skydive
On Saturday 7th September, Snowdrop’s thrill seeking supporters will be taking to the skies in support or survivors of modern slavery – and you could join them!
If you’re a thrill seeker looking for your next adventure, why not join team Snowdrop for our September skydive?
You can book your place for just £50 when you fundraise at least £500. Alternatively, you can self-fund the skydive by paying £229 and fundraising as much as possible.
Earlier this year, a group of Snowdrop skydivers raised more than £10,000 for our clients, which is absolutely fantastic. This September, we’d love to have an even bigger group skydiving for freedom! Find out more, and book your place, here.
Sheffield 10k
The Sheffield 10k is back again! Staged in partnership with Sheffield City Council, the Sheffield Mutual Sheffield 10K is set right in the heart of South Yorkshire’s famous Steel City.
A fantastic atmosphere is always generated by the enthusiastic local support. Thousands took part in 2023, and it’s guaranteed to be even bigger in 2024!
This year is the final year that Snowdrop is a partner charity for the Sheffield10K. For this reason, we’d love to have a huge team running for freedom and survivors of modern slavery.
For a limited time only, we’re holding a flash sale. This means that you can currently secure your place in the race for free by fundraising just £50!
By taking part in the 10k, you’ll be helping to ensure that even more survivors have the support they need to recover from their experiences and build lives free from their pasts.
Find out more, and get your free place, here.
P.S. If running isn't your thing, but you would still love to get involved, why not help marshal at the race?
We’ll share the latest news about all of these events (and more!) in our monthly newsletter. Sign up to receive our newsletter here.
