Did you know that, in addition to supporting and empowering survivors of human trafficking and modern slavery, the Snowdrop Project also offers high quality, in-depth training for professionals from a wide range of backgrounds?
Our training sessions help professionals gain a deeper understanding of human trafficking and modern slavery, ultimately helping to ensure that each survivor has access to the support they need to rebuild their lives. Understanding how to identify and tackle human trafficking and modern slavery is still an area which many professionals lack confidence in. We are honoured to share our expertise and experience with both statutory and voluntary service organisations through engaging training sessions which make a tangible difference to practice.
Each session is delivered by an experienced professional with frontline experience, using examples inspired by real life situations, to help attendees link their knowledge to practical situations. Our training is suitable for professionals from the police, social services, mental health services, anti-trafficking charities, adult safeguarding, housing agencies, drug and alcohol agencies and youth work programmes – to name a few!

Upcoming training
We have two upcoming training sessions, both of which can be booked by individuals who want to improve their knowledge of human trafficking and modern slavery.
11th October 2023: Introduction to Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking (Online)

This online session, lasting three hours, provides attendees with a better understanding of human trafficking and modern slavery, including the indicators, the factors that contribute to this crime, where to refer victims for help and what best practice support looks like.
No prior knowledge is needed to attend this course. This session is suitable for:
- Statutory services including social workers, housing officers, safeguarding leads, police, NHS and local government
- Charities and NGOs focused on homelessness, drug and alcohol misuse, refugees and asylum seekers, unaccompanied asylum seeking children, sexual violence, learning difficulties and vulnerable elderly people
- Schools working with children at risk of exploitation

16th November 2023: Supporting People with Complex Trauma (In Person)

This whole-day session, which takes place at Snowdrop’s office in the centre of Sheffield, provides attendees with knowledge of how to support survivors of complex trauma. The session will focus on the difference between trauma and complex trauma, how to identify symptoms of complex trauma, how to engage with survivors from a trauma-informed position, grounding and stabilisation techniques which you can pass on to your clients, and how to recognise vicarious trauma in yourself as a practitioner.
This course is suitable for professionals with some experience of supporting vulnerable people. This includes:
- Modern slavery caseworkers and advocates
- Safeguarding leads, police who work with vulnerable people, NHS staff
- Charities and NGOs focusing on drug and alcohol misuse, homelessness, refugees and asylum seekers, and sexual violence
